Procesul de angajare în Grecia pentru cetățenii sârbi
If you are planning to work in Greece, it is important to prepare for the visa process in advance. With good organization, everything can be done without major difficulties.
Important: the process of hiring foreign workers in Greece is always initiated by the employer. The candidate cannot independently obtain a work permit — the employer submits the application to the relevant Greek authorities, and after approval, forwards it to the Greek Embassy in Belgrade.
Before starting the process, check whether your passport is valid. It must be valid for at least one year and have at least three blank pages. Without meeting these conditions, you cannot continue the process.
Verificați pașaportul
Your passport must be valid for at least one year (ideally longer) and have at least three blank pages. We recommend checking this at the very beginning.
Pregătiți documentația de bază
Trebuie să pregătiți următoarele documente:
- –Copie a primei pagini a pașaportului
- –Două fotografii tip pașaport
- –Contract de muncă
- –Asigurare de călătorie obligatorie
Court certificate (proof that you have no criminal convictions) — approximately 1,300 RSD, submitted at the court, usually issued on the same day.
Police certificate (proof that you have no administrative offenses) — approximately 300 RSD, can be ready in as few as 7 days.
These documents do not require additional translation or certification.
Examinare medicală
A medical examination is required using the official form available on the Greek Embassy website. The form is printed in Serbian and completed by a general practitioner — it must be fully and correctly filled out. Prices start from around 15,000 RSD.
The examination includes:
- –Laboratory (blood and urine analysis)
- –Abdominal ultrasound
- –Chest X-ray
- –Psychological and psychiatric examination
- –ECG
- –Ophthalmological examination
Asigurare de călătorie
Asigurarea de călătorie trebuie să îndeplinească următoarele condiții:
- –Covers at least 91 days of stay
- –Minimum coverage of €30,000
- –Includes COVID-19 protection
A multi-entry policy is recommended — approximately €22,000 RSD and provides greater flexibility. A single-entry policy costs approximately 14,000 RSD.
Programați o întâlnire la Ambasada Greciei
Once you have collected all the required documentation, schedule an appointment at the embassy. On the day of the appointment, you must bring your passport. The visa fee is paid at the embassy and amounts to approximately €180.
Sfatul nostru
Collect documents in parallel — court, police, doctor, and insurance — to avoid unnecessary delays. Once you receive confirmation of approval from your employer, contact the embassy immediately as waiting times may be longer during busy periods.
Ce urmează după ambasadă?
After the employer submits and receives approval of the application, they forward it to the Greek Embassy in Belgrade. The employee comes to the scheduled appointment with complete documentation, signs the employment contract, and pays the fee. The D visa decision is usually made within a few days.
The D visa for work in Greece is issued for up to 91 days and serves as an entry visa to begin work. It is recommended to organize entry into Greece on the date the visa starts, which is aligned with the start date of the employment contract.
Important: do not enter the country before the visa start date, as entry may be treated as tourism, which can affect further procedures. For example, if the visa starts on April 30 — enter on April 30, never on April 29.
La sosirea în Grecia
You must submit an application to the competent Directorate for Foreigners and Migration. Exact location information is provided by the employer or lawyer. Submit a copy of the entire passport (all pages), not just the pages with stamps.
Before submitting the application, you must pay an administrative fee (e-paravolo) of approximately €150, which can be paid at a bank or post office.
Poate un avocat să gestioneze întreaga procedură?
Yes. If an authorized lawyer handles the entire process, the procedure can be simplified. After entry, the employee sends scanned photos of all passport pages to the lawyer, signs a power of attorney certified at the KEP, and the lawyer then submits the application for the electronic certificate of residence and work.
Estimated legal fees for the entire process are approximately €700 + VAT.
